- More than 18,000 Maine children under the age of 18 have asthma.
- More than 140,000 Maine adults have asthma.
- Asthma makes it hard to breathe. An asthma attack can be triggered by the environment, cold, even exercise.
- Asthma cannot be cured, but it can be managed. Working with your doctor can help you understand and control triggers that cause an asthma flare-up. You CAN reduce how often an attack happens and how bad an attack can feel by learning your triggers (PDF).
