MLTI 2.0 is engaging students in a new way through the "MLTI SLAM (Student Leadership Ambassadors of Maine)" initiative, which provides school-based and student-focused opportunities for teams to grow into leaders of technology integration within their school and state.

Students and teachers will learn alongside one another within their schools, modeling lifelong learning and sharing lasting experiences. The "Student Leadership Ambassadors of Maine" initiative is aimed at increasing student agency as digital producers.

Meet the Coordinator of MLTI SLAM (Student Leadership Ambassadors of Maine)

Kern Kelley

Kern Kelley comes to the MLTI Team from RSU19, where he is the Director of Technology Integration.  He has been teaching for over twenty years, starting his career as an elementary teacher in New Zealand.  He transitioned from being an elementary classroom teacher to technology integrator and has begun many of his student-focused programs at Nokomis Regional High and RSU19’s middle and elementary schools.  He became an early adopter of Google Apps for Education, which led him to becoming a Google Certified Teacher, being a Lead Learner at over a dozen Google Teacher Academies and authoring the Google Apps Guidebook.  As the Director of Student Agency for EdTechTeam, Kern presented all over the globe taking his students with him.  He was recognized by his peers as ACTEM’s Maine Technology Educator of the Year in 2013.  Among his other projects are the TechSherpas, a student produced technology support show and the STEAM Powered Learning initiative, which brings STEAM opportunities to Maine schools. He lives in South China with his wife and two sons.
