Democratic House members on the Education Committee applaud Gov. Mills' plans for local education funding

AUGUSTA - Following the Mills administration's announcement on Wednesday of plans to make historic investments in Maine schools, including a proposal for the state to reach 55% funding for K-12 local education costs, House Democrats serving on the Legislature's Education and Cultural Affairs Committee released statements in support of the plan.

Crockett appointed to Citizen Trade Policy Commission

AUGUSTA - Rep. Edward Crockett, D-Portland, has been appointed to serve on the Citizen Trade Policy Commission.

The 22-member commission is focused on assessing the impacts of international trade policies on Maine's state and local laws, business environment and working conditions. Established during the Second Special Session of the 121st Legislature, the commission includes: six legislators, an Attorney General designee, five nonvoting agency officials and 10 public members representing business, labor, health, government and environmental interests.

Local legislators welcome Dr. Patrick Connolly to State House

Rep. Sam Zager, D-Portland, and Rep. Ed Crockett, D-Portland, welcomed Dr. Patrick Connolly of Falmouth to the State House on Thursday, where he served as the Maine House Doctor of the Day. Connolly is a colleague of Rep. Zager at Martin's Point Health Care and a constituent of Rep. Crockett.

Crockett introduces bill to increase pay for school support staff

AUGUSTA - Rep. Ed Crockett, D-Portland, presented LD 974, An Act to Establish Minimum Pay for Educational Technicians and Other School Support Staff, before the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee on Thursday. The bill would increase pay for educational technicians up to 133% of the state minimum wage and for other school support staff up to 125% of the state minimum wage beginning on Oct. 1, 2023.

House District

Rep. Ed Crockett is serving his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives. He sits on the Taxation Committee and the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee.

A Portland native, Crockett was born and raised on Munjoy Hill. He earned undergraduate degrees in journalism and broadcasting from the University of Maine at Orono and later earned a Master of Business Administration from Boston College.
