MSL Online Library Card Registration

You must be a Maine resident to receive a library card.

Please select one of the following options:

1. I will use the library card only to access online databases.
2. I will use the library card to borrow materials in person. Online database access is also included.

If you selected option 1, circulation services will contact you the next business day and provide you with a database barcode access number. Your online-access barcode is valid for five years. After that, you must call 207-287-5600 or email circulation.msl@maine.gov to maintain active status.

If you selected option 2, your card will allow you to borrow materials at the Maine State Library and participating University of Maine System libraries. Your card will be activated when you pick it up at the Maine State Library. Cards are not mailed. Please bring an ID with a valid current Maine mailing address.

Your card will be ready for pickup at the Maine State Library on the next business day and will be held for 30 days.
