Located a mile from the Atlantic Ocean and 15 minutes from Portland, Loranger Memorial School is a grades 3-8 school with 275 students within RSU 23 seeking a Library Media Specialistto join our faculty for the start of the 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will serve in the following capacities:(1) program administratorand leader, (2) instructional leader, (3) information specialist, (4) information and technology literacy instructor, & (4) reading advocate.The successful candidate should possess the following:

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Citizenship, residency or work visa
  • Maine Department of Education Teaching Certificate for Library MediaSpecialist (071)

QUALIFICATIONS / JOB SUMMARY:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and administer the school library program and guide and direct all activities related to it
  • Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment as it relates to proficiency-based education
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous, relevant, and engaging information and technology literacy instruction to students of varying abilities in grade 3, 4 & 5
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratewith parents, teachers, administrators, community leaders and other stakeholders to promote and support student success
  • Experience in empowering students to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and model a culture of reading in the school community
  • Experience in evaluating, promoting and using existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning, supplement school resources, connect the school with the global learning community, communicate with students and teachers, and provide 24/7 access to library services
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers, district librarians, and the technology department
  • Interest in participating in the school community outside of the classroom
