Old Town Elementary School(OTES) is a K-5 organization with a thriving library program that services all of our almost 500 students. The library was designed to be the heart and soul of our school and was placed in the middle of the school structure to serve as the center of our literacy program. We are seeking a candidate that is a dynamic teacher with enthusiasm for learning, literacy, and connecting to the existing wider curriculum through teaching and maintaining a diverse collection of resources.

Applicants must have professional skills in collaboration, leadership, and progressive ideas to spark the learning environment of our school. The job goal is to provide leadership and expertise to staff as they connect the learning goals of the classroom to the literacy and technology opportunities in the library and the world and to spark a love of literacy and STEM in our students. Our library position is seen as a quasi-coaching position, providing additional support, resources, and professional development for a variety of staff.

The OTES Library and Information Specialist is part of a collaborative team within the three RSU 34 elementary schools which share resources to provide for all students in our district. OTES seeks a certified librarian (071 State of Maine Educational Certification) or a certified general elementary teacher K-8 (020 State of Maine Educational Certification with a plan to complete Library Information Specialist 071 certification) in the 2024-2025 school year.

The OTES of approximately 500 students, is located next to the University of Maine at Orono.
