Description, How to Apply, and Contact:

Performs various tasks associated with the circulation of library materials and provides reference assistance in the Adult Services Department. Provides customer service to diverse patrons of all ages in a busy library environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets the public and provides assistance at the circulation and/or Reference Desk.
  • Facilitates a positive environment for all patrons using the library and accessing library materials.
  • Assumes responsibility for one or more ongoing library projects including, but not limited to, programming, displays and outreach.
  • Schedules and supervises uses of public computers and small group study spaces according to library policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the Library Director, co-workers, volunteers and library patrons.

Hours:

One (1) Saturday a month, 8a-12 noon, and weekly 8a-5p, with one (1) evening per week, 11a-8p.

Requirements:

  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service to a diverse public.
  • General knowledge of library operations.
  • Working knowledge of popular adult fiction and non-fiction, including knowledge of books, authors, and reader trends.
  • Basic PC skills with knowledge of computer and electronic equipment operations including Microsoft Office, internet research, and Triple I's Sierra software.
  • Ability and willingness to always display a high level of ethics and professionalism in the workplace.
  • Ability to resolve patron complaints and communicates library policies in a polite, respectful, and positive manner.

Salary: This is a Year-Round, Full-Time, non-exempt, non-union position. Comprehensive Benefits Package. Pay range NU11: $19.21 - $24.73 per hour.
