Maine DHHS Recognizes Maine Adoptive Families During National Adoption Month

AUGUSTA— The Maine Department of Health and Human Services’ (DHHS) Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) is recognizing November as National Adoption Month by highlighting the vital role that adoptive parents play in creating safe and stable homes for Maine children. In 2022, 413 children in Maine were adopted and provided permanency by resource (foster), kin and adoptive parents.

Maine CDC Announces Possible Hepatitis A Exposure at Falmouth Restaurant

Potentially exposed patrons and staff are encouraged to contact a health care provider

AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) has identified a case of hepatitis A in a Falmouth food service worker. Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease caused by the hepatitis A virus. It can spread through person-to-person contact or by consuming contaminated food or water.

In her 2023 State of the Budget Address, Governor Mills announced the Department of Health and Human Services’ partnership with the Maine Child Welfare Action Network (MCWAN) to develop a plan to keep children in Maine safe by keeping families strong. The Governor called for this plan in recognition of the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect and limiting the need for child protective intervention.

Attention Primary Care Plus (PCPlus) Providers: Reminder - PCPlus Open Office Hour

MaineCare’s Delivery System Reform Unit (DSRU) will be holding a PCPlus Open Office Hour on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 12PM. The purpose of the Open Office Hour is to provide an accessible online venue for PCPlus providers to come and ask MaineCare questions regarding the PCPlus model. During the Open Office Hour, we will also discuss the April 1, 2024 requirements for Tier 2 and Tier 3 PCPlus practices regarding hiring or contracting with community health workers and community-based organizations.

Maine DHHS releases updated data on MaineCare eligibility reviews, including transitions to CoverME.gov

Today, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) released updated data on the resumption of MaineCare (Medicaid) eligibility reviews after the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, known as “unwinding.”  This update is available on the MaineCare Renewals Data Dashboard and is based on more current data than reflected in previous months’ updates.
