The Department expects the Lifespan program to be ready for enrollment by July 2026.
The Department has initiated a Rate Determination Process for Interpreter Services, Chapter I, Section 1, of the MaineCare Benefits Manual.* The Department is determining rates to ensure quality of care and access to this critical service. The Department will assess, and determine as appropriate, rate amounts or reimbursement models in accordance with Maine statute.
This rulemaking proposes to establish guidelines for the safe installation and use of safe haven baby boxes at qualifying safe haven provider locations before they are put into service. Public Law 2021, c. 466 amended Maine’s Safe Haven law to direct the Department of Health and Human Services to adopt rules to ensure the safe design, installation, and use of each safe haven baby box before it may be put into service by a hospital, law enforcement agency, or fire department.

Maine's Medicaid program (MaineCare) successfully concluded a process known as the "unwinding" of the continuous Medicaid eligibility requirement. Following the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency in 2023, updates to federal rules meant that every MaineCare member needed to have their coverage reviewed to ensure they could remain eligible. This process began in May 2023, and eligibility redeterminations were completed by October 31, 2024, with nearly 80% of Maine people successfully renewing their MaineCare coverage.
