Special Education Surrogate Parent Program
The Special Education Surrogate Parent Program was established to provide educational surrogate parents to children with disabilities whenever the natural parents or guardian of a child with a disability cannot be identified or located, or when the child is in the custody of the state.
Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities.

Maine CITE is the state's Assistive Technology program providing AT Demo, AT Loan, and AT Reuse services; AT Training webinar events; information on AT resources, providers and Maine CITE also supports an online AT inventory for educators, therapists, students and families to access more than a thousand AT devices available for demo and loan in Maine. Project IMPACT
Project IMPACT (''Interagency Model Project for Academic and Correctional Transition'') serves as the education liaison between Long Creek's incarcerated youth and their public school systems. The project is funded through the Maine Department of Education and has been in existence since 1988.
