Maine Extends Project ACT With New Supply of 50,000 Additional At-Home COVID-19 Tests

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced today that it is extending Project Access COVID Tests (ACT), its partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation to mail free COVID-19 tests directly to Maine people, with an order for 50,000 additional tests, after Maine people claimed the remaining initial supply on Wednesday.

  • Heat Pumps: $2,000 rebate (tax assessment eligibility)
  • Weatherization: Rebate is 90% of the project cost, for projects up to $9,000 (tax assessment eligibility)
  • Heat Pump Water Heaters: Free (must have an unheated basement space)
  • Smart Thermostats: (Natural Gas Customers): $200 reimbursement (only NG customers)
  • DIY Kits: (LEDs, aerators, showerhead): Free (reply to the postcard mailer)

Consistent with New Expert Recommendation Reflecting Transmissibility of Omicron Variant, Maine CDC to Suspend Contact Tracing

Maine CDC continues to recommend contact tracing for certain higher-risk congregate residential settings, including long-term care facilities 

Due to the rapid transmission of the COVID-19 Omicron variant and consistent with a recommendation from public health experts, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) announced today that it will suspend contact tracing effective February 8, 2022.
