Bausch Health Companies, Inc. offers a patient assistance program aimed at supplying free medication, including Xifaxan, to eligible patients who do not have coverage under their Medicaid pharmacy benefit.

AUGUSTA-- The State of Maine announced today that it is launching a robust public engagement process to apply for funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), a new Federal initiative to bolster rural health care providers.
The Department is proposing to repeal 10-144 CMR chapter 276, Rules For Influenza Agent Distribution Report, established January 27, 2008. The rule is obsolete following the repeal of 22 MRS § 1065 which eliminated reporting requirements specific to influenza immunization agents sold, shipped or otherwise distributed in the State of Maine. (PL 2011 c. 320).

PRINCIPAL REASON(S) OR PURPOSE FOR PROPOSING THIS RULE: The Department adopts this emergency rule to amend 10-144 C.M.R. Ch. 301; Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Program Rules to ensure compliance with H.R. 1-Budget Reconciliation Act signed into law on July 4, 2025.

The public comment period to inform Maine’s RHTP plan and application has closed. Thank you to the many people who took the time to share their ideas, expertise, and experiences. Your feedback is helping guide how these important funds can best support rural health in Maine. The State of Maine has now moved into the next stage – working more closely with partners and communities across rural Maine – as we prepare an application due on Nov. 5, 2025.
Effective September 16, 2025, referrals for Section 97, Appendix E, PNMI Services will not undergo clinical review until referents submit all required documentation through the Atrezzo system. Acentra will place incomplete referrals on an administrative hold for up to seven days.
Ensuring Referral Processing
As previously noticed, MaineCare is increasing all in-state FQHC rates to reflect a 1.0% COLA.
MaineCare will implement new rates for billing when funding for this COLA is available to the Department on September 24, 2025. New rates will be effective retroactively to July 1, 2025.
