Maine people and visitors urged to take precautions during an active mosquito season

AUGUSTA—  The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) and the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (Maine DACF) announced today that a horse from Somerset County tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus (EEE). This is the third domestic animal this year to test positive for the virus, which is spread through the bite of infected mosquitoes.

As authorized by P.L. 2023 Ch. 643 Part UU and Part SSS, the Department has distributed a supplemental payment to NFs on September 5, 2024.

The Office of Aging and Disability Services in collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Maine is excited to announce a virtual De-Escalation training opportunity scheduled for Monday October 28, 2024.

This training is available for caregivers providing care to Section 12, 19, and 96 members. Caregivers can include personal support staff, attendants, home health aides, nurses or other natural and family supports.

AUGUSTA— The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced today that it has advised the Lisbon Water Department that its Do Not Drink order issued Thursday can now be lifted, after the Maine CDC’s Drinking Water Program received expedited water sample test results that show the public drinking water is safe to consume.

Lisbon Water Department has issued Do Not Drink Order

AUGUSTA -- The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (Maine CDC) Drinking Water Program is responding to the release of sludge from the Lisbon Water Department into the town's public drinking water system.
