Purpose

The Maine State Board for Licensure of Architects, Landscape Architects and Interior Designers was established to protect the public and maintain high professional standards through examination and licensure of persons who wish to practice architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design in the State of Maine.

The primary responsibilities of the Board are to identify qualified applicants for licensure, to issue licenses and renewals to applicants who have met licensure requirements and to promulgate rules as necessary to establish standards and verify qualifications of applicants for licensure.

Important Reminders

NOTICE CONCERNING DELIVERY OF ARCHITECT, LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT AND INTERIOR DESIGN LICENSES
Architect, Landscape Architect and Interior Design licenses are now delivered to licensees via email. The email sender is displayed as “noreply@maine.gov” and the subject as “YOUR OFFICIAL (license type) LICENSE IS ATTACHED”. Paper licenses will NOT be mailed to licensees with an email address on file with the Board.
You have the opportunity to update your contact information when you renew your license online or you may update your email address and other contact information anytime here.

Architects, Landscape Architects, and Interior Designers are required to display their licensed status as "Maine Licensed Architect", "Maine Licensed Landscape Architect" or "Maine Certified Interior Designer" in all advertising, promotional materials, correspondence and business cards. 10 day notification of convictions, discipline & material changes

Pursuant to Title 10, §8003-G:

All licensees and applicants for licensure to report in writing to the office no later than 10 days after the change or event, as the case may be:

a. Change of name or address;

b. Criminal conviction;

c. Revocation, suspension, or other disciplinary action taken in this or any other jurisdiction against any occupational or professional license held by the applicant or licensee; or

d. Any material change in the conditions or qualifications set forth in the original application for licensure submitted to the office.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE 10-DAY NOTIFICATION REQUIREMENT MAY RESULT IN SANCTIONS AGAINST YOUR LICENSE.
