News About the Experience Requirement for Licensing

As of November 1, 2023, the Manufactured Housing Board has approved having a HUD Manufactured Housing Installation License as equivalent to meeting the experience portion of the requirements for obtaining a Manufactured Housing Board License.  This is applicable to the Dealer, Installer, or Mechanic License.  For further information please contact Peter Holmes at Peter.T.Holmes@maine.gov or call (207) 624-8678.

Purpose

The Manufactured Housing Board was established to ensure that manufactured housing is safe from hazardous defects, provide uniform performance standards for construction and installation of manufactured housing, and provide a safe and sanitary environment for occupants residing in mobile home communities.

The primary responsibilities of the board are to examine and license qualified applicants, to promulgate rules defining the qualifications and professional standards of manufacturers, dealers and installers of manufactured housing, to investigate complaints against its licensees, and to take appropriate disciplinary action against noncompliance with its statute and rules.

License verifications is available at no charge by visiting Manufactured Housing Board online licensing portal. OPOR does not issue paper license verifications.

Emailed Licenses

NOTICE CONCERNING DELIVERY OF MANUFACTURED HOUSING LICENSES
Manufactured Housing licenses are now delivered to licensees via email. The email sender is displayed as “noreply@maine.gov” and the subject as “YOUR OFFICIAL (license type) LICENSE IS ATTACHED”. Paper licenses will NOT be mailed to licensees with an email address on file with the Board.
You have the opportunity to update your contact information when you renew your license online or you may update your email address and other contact information anytime here.
