Description
A "Radiologic Technologist" is a radiographer, a radiation therapist or a nuclear medicine technologist licensed by this Board. "Radiographer" means a person, other than a licensed practitioner, who applies ionizing radiation to human beings for imaging purposes, excluding the administration of radiopharmaceuticals. "Radiation Therapist" is defined as a person, other than a licensed practitioner, who applies ionizing radiation to human beings for therapeutic and simulation purposes, excluding the administration of radiopharmaceuticals. "Nuclear Medicine Technologist" is a person, other than a licensed practitioner, who uses radionuclide agents on human beings for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
Individuals only providing MRIs do not need a license from this Board.
This Board does not license Dental Radiographers as they are regulated by the Board of Dental Practice.
Application Information
Applicants for RT licensure are required to submit:

Documentation of valid ARRT or NMTCB credentials;

For applicants without valid ARRT or NMTCB credentials: official documentation of completion of a JRCERT-accredited, ARRT-approved or NMTCB-approved course of study AND passing score (at least 75%) on the ARRT Examination in Radiography, Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine or the NMTCB Examination;

Official license verifications for all professional licenses the applicant holds or has ever held, even if they are now expired. License verifications need to include the applicant's name, license number, license type, initial issue date, current expiration date and whether the license has ever been disciplined. Copies of professional licenses are not acceptable.
RT Renewal Information
Renew a License
Terms:

Renews on August 31st of even years regardless of initial license issue date.
Requirements:

Satisfy the continuing education requirement with one of the following:
-
Possess a valid ARRT credential that is in CEU compliance as of the date of the renewal application.
-
Pass an entry level examination in a discipline for which the licensee has not previously been qualified for and for which the licensee is eligible.
-
Pass an advanced level ARRT examination in a discipline for which the licensee has not previously been qualified for and for which the licensee is eligible.
-
Complete 24 hours of continuing education activities pursuant to Board rules Chapter 9 (DOCX).

Description
A "Temporary Radiologic Technologist" license may be issued in certain circumstances to individuals who meet all the requirements for the full Radiologic Technologist (RT) license, except for examination passage. The applicant must demonstrate that the issuance of the TP license is justified by special circumstances, no danger to the public health or safety exists AND a licensed practitioner is available to supervise the TP licensee at each employment installation. The licensee must notify the Board of any change of supervisor or practice location by submitting a new Supervision Agreement Form (PDF).

Applicants for TP licensure are required to submit:

Official documentation of completion of a JRCERT-accredited, ARRT-approved or NMTCB-approved course of study;

Letter documenting the special circumstances that justify the issuance of a TP license with verification no danger to the public health or safety exists;

TP Renewal Information
Terms:

TP licenses expire when the results of the licensee's examination are known or 90 days after issuance, whichever comes first.
-
If a TP licensee fails examination the TP license may be re-issued once with an extension request.
Description
A "Trainee Radiographer" is an individual who applies ionizing radiation to a human being under the supervision of a licensed practitioner in an office setting and is concurrently obtaining the education and clinical training required to apply for the Limited Radiographer (LT) license pursuant to Board rules Chapter 7 (DOCX). During the traineeship the TR licensee must:
- Submit a Trainee Progress Report Form (PDF) to the Board every 30 days of licensure.
- Complete an approved course of study as described in Board rules Chapter 6.
- Complete an approved clinical training program as described in Board rules Chapter 6.
- Pass the ARRT Examination for the Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology with a score of at least 75%.
Upon successful completion of the above responsibilities, within 6-12 consecutive months, the TR licensee may apply for a LT license pursuant to Board rules Chapter 7.

Applicants for TR licensure are required to submit:

Official documentation of completion of radiation safety training signed by the supervising practitioner;

Course of study modules' syllabi;

Official license verifications for all professional licenses the applicant holds or has ever held, even if they are now expired. License verifications need to include the applicant's name, license number, license type, initial issue date, current expiration date and whether the license has ever been disciplined. Copies of professional licenses are not acceptable.
TR Renewal Information
Terms:
-
Traineeship must be more than 6 consecutive months AND less than 12 consecutive months.
-
TR licensees must take the examination at least once during the traineeship.
-
Except in extenuating and unavoidable circumstances of genuine hardship, as determined by the Board, no individual may train for longer than 12 consecutive months. Failure to pass the examination does not constitute a hardship.
Description
The Board may issue a "Limited Radiographer" license to a Trainee Radiographer (TR) licensee who has satisfactorily completed the clinical training program and approved course of study described in Board rules Chapter 6 (DOCX) AND has passed the ARRT Examination for the Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology with a score of at least 75%.
Application Information
Applicants for LT licensure are required to submit:

Summary of the clinical training program actually provided by the supervising practitioner pursuant to Board rules Chapter 6;

Clinical training procedure logs documenting completion of required amount of procedures pursuant to Board rules Chapter 6;

Clinical training progress reports and performance evaluations completed by the supervising licensed practitioner or a fully licensed radiographer;
-
A letter of recommendation from the supervising licensed practitioner;

Official transcript or verifiable documentation of completion of the course of study required pursuant to Board rules Chapter 6;

Valid basic life support certification;
-
Official documentation of completion of a processor quality control program, either film screen or digital;

Official documentation of passing the ARRT Examination for the Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology with a score of at least 75%;
