Book Discussion Facilitator
Time Commitment
6-12 hours, monthly, 9 month commitment
Purpose
To facilitate a book discussion group for adults.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Suggests reading choices
- Helps participants select book titles
- Coordinates dates and times with library schedule
- Works with the library staff to advertise programs
- Ability to research authors
- Creates discussion questions
- Teaches group members how to reserve books using the library's computerized catalog
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Required
- Ability to speak and understand English, and to convey a positive, friendly attitude
- Ability to work congenially with staff, patrons, and other volunteers
- Ability to provide dependable transportation, so as to be punctual, and the ability to be contacted by telephone, scheduling changes and meetings
- Knowledge of popular titles and authors
- General familiarity with libraries
- Must feel comfortable guiding and facilitating groups
