This is a tribute to my husband SFC Ronald L. Brooks, part of the 3rd/304th, 98th Division out of Lewiston/Auburn, serving in Iraq since October of 2004. We are very proud of everything he is doing over there. This has been a difficult sacrifice on both our parts, but especially for him putting his life on the line everyday for his country while being away from his home and family. He is a loving husband and father, and a devoted soldier. He is missed and loved very much by all who know him and we hope to have him home safely very soon.

Your 21 years of service and your two tours of Vietnam make your family and your country proud. You speak of it humbly like it wasn't something that should be honored and remembered with great respect but in fact you deserve the highest ranks in honor and respect. If then, C.O. Colin Powell thought well enough of you to write a letter of recommendation for you than I think that you must have done wonderful and courageous things while you served. I know you don't talk about it much and I can understand that it was a difficult for everyone.

In support of my brother, who leaves behind a wife, a 1-year-old son, countless family members and friends who miss him every day. We are all able to live free to do what we wish because of the ultimate sacrifice Jay has made to this country. I love you, Jay, and pray for the safety and support of those still defending us all.

Dad, I don't think you really know how much your service relly means to us. How many men lived to climb those cliffs at OMAHA BEACH. All those medals and PURPLE HEARTS (2) will always be treasured. Our Veterans are the best, all of you wherever you served. Greatest of all you brought back the most treasured thing with you, MY MOM. Thank you Dad. They had 67 beautiful years. She just passed at 90 years young, still with that cute french accent. I just wish our vets in Wells got as much Attention in Augusta. They seem forgotten.

My brother left college to join the Marines. Continued his education when he returned, being the son of a widow it would have made him exempt at the time. He is a brave man along with so many others.

I wish to show gratitude for my father's service of many years of active duty as a front line defender in Germany during the not so cold Cold War. I feel the need to praise him for his much overlooked service. Thank you Dad, you are an inspiration to your sons, your daughter and the young soldier's and my generation today.
